Theatre and Event Production Management
Theatre and Event Production Management
Since my freshman year at Drury University I have been working on developing theatrical and management skills. Majoring in theatre and Arts Administration allowed me experience the best of both worlds. I designed at least one main stage show every semester I was at Drury, beginning my sophomore year. Additionally, through Arts Administration I received many great internships, including working in General Management for Second Stage Theatre in NYC.
In the summer of 2013, I designed two Off-Off-Broadway shows in New York City for the Project Rushmore Theatre Group. I worked with Broadway professionals at Second Stage Theatre, company managing of their uptown space.
The year 2014 saw me finishing my BA at Drury and heading to The Hangar theatre before heading off to the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music. That summer I served as the Sound Design Fellow at the Hangar Theatre in Ithaca, NY. After designing eight shows, assisting on four more and mentoring a 13th, I began a three-year MFA program for Theatrical Design and Production-Sound Design at the University of Cincinnati, College-Conservatory of Music (CCM). This was kicked off by my successful first design for CCM, Speech and Debate, which won many accolades across the Cincinnati Area.
In 2015, after working as a Production Sound Engineer and A2, I spent the summer with the Pennsylvania Shakespeare Festival as their Sound Supervisor, and designer for Rapunzel. The work with PSF changed my entire outlook on theatre, and I had the best season of growth, learning, and development. Followed shortly after the summer, at CCM I jumped straight in to Pentecost and continued the Design adventures of an MFA Candidate here at CCM.
In Spring of 2016 I worked with professor, and technical director, Stirling Shelton to create a new project. Through class I developed a wireless cue lighting system that has seen great progress. Following the success of this project, we were awarded CCM's first Accelerator grant from the University of Cincinnati, providing us non-equity funding to see this project to market. This year culminated with me graduating a semester early, and moving back to NYC to pursue the post-grad life and work to design and implement our start-up for the cue light.
Since landing in New York City full time at the start of 2017 I have continued to move through events and theater! In 2019 I began as the Assistant Production Manager [Technical Supervisor] for the Gerald W. Lynch Theater at John Jay College. Here we work mainly as a presenting space for clients such as Netflix, Lincoln Center, Apple TV, and The New Yorker Festival. We manage a full IATSE house and generate external revenue for the college.
